Come listen to legendary historian and native Bronzeville resident Timuel Black recount his history growing up in the Black Belt, as well as his relationship growing up with artist Charles White just down the street.

The week of 8/12, Urban Juncture is recognizing Bronzeville art, history, and community with a week-long celebration of the legacy of acclaimed Bronzeville artist Charles White, and centenarian Timuel Black, an acclaimed Bronzeville educator, historian and activist, who will be our featured guest.

Events are planned throughout the week of 8/12 starting at the re-opening of the Wednesday Evening Markets at Boxville 8/15, and will conclude at Boxville on Sunday, 8/19, with a birthday party celebrating the 100th year of both Tim Black and Charles White.

Events include a talk with Tim Black on Wednesday evening, a free visit to the Art Institute of Chicago to view the Charles White exhibit on Thursday evening, and both bike and walking tours through Bronzeville on Sunday afternoon!
